Refutation of
the Offense:
A 20 item scale measuring the
general propensity to refute the commission of an offense, dispute the validity
of any ill consequences, and impugn the credibility of those making such
assertions.
This scale has five subscales:
Complete Denial: A 5-item subscale that measures
the predisposition to insist that the individual has not committed a sexual
offense.
Denial of Victim Credibility: A 4-item subscale
measuring a widespread denunciation of the credibility of the victim's account
of the offense.
Denial of System Fairness: A 4-item subscale
that measures a general predilection to shift attention to complaints about the
unfairness of the justice system and requirements for treatment.
Denial of Victim Harm: A 4-item subscale that measures the extent to
which the offender believes that the victim was harmed as a direct result of
the offense.
Focus on Self Harm: A 3-item subscale that
measures an offender's inclination to shift attention to negative consequences
related to the offense that may have resulted for himself (or herself). |
