Clinical Value of the FoSOD

Denial of Planning:

A 13-item scale that measures a predisposition to refute suggestions of any antecedent preparations or deliberate consideration of the offense prior to its occurrence.

This scale consists of 4 subscales:

Denial of Overt Planning: a 3-item subscale measuring the disposition to refute assertions of any intentional efforts designed to increase the prospect of an offense.

Denial of Victim Enticement: a 3-item subscale measuring an inclination to disclaim any deliberate attempts to eroticize the victim's view of the offender.

Denial of Deviant Fantasizing: a 3-item subscale measuring a predisposition to deny any deliberate attempt to imagine the victim as a sexual object.

Denial of Sexualizing the Victim: a 4-item subscale measuring an acknowledgement of the development of a sexualized view of the victim and its role as a mobilizing influence on the offender's behavior.
